I am a results-driven professional with experience in leading people and project teams, as well as implementing and overseeing technology initiatives. I possess an in-depth understanding of emerging technologies and their commercial applications. Experience

2001-2002 Mabe Enterprises Houston, TX

Owner

I provided low-cost effective technology consulting and system development services to small and medium sized businesses in and around Houston, Texas. Utilizing my broad technology expertise and polished consulting skills, I sought to provide solutions to young growing companies and startups. Fostering a mentoring role, my clients have a consultant who is willing to take the time to listen to their needs, guide them through the maze of choices available to them, and share their concerns. It is important that my clients utilize the right technologies to establish a firm foundation for trouble-free growth well into the future.

1998-2001 CGI Houston, TX

Sr. Consultant

I was a valued member of the Architecture and Infrastructure Services practice with CGI Houston. The practice consisted of a highly skilled team of consultants with experience in all areas of design, development, and implementation of network infrastructure and client/server systems. CGI is a Microsoft Solutions Provider and gained first partner level and the Special Forces level status with Microsoft.

As a consultant for this practice I have performed the following:

  • Significantly contributed to the development of both the technical and business direction of the Architecture and Infrastructure Services practice. This was accomplished through targeted analysis of market trends and business needs in infrastructure-based technologies including wired and wireless data communications.
  • Strategic business development for the Houston office of CGI. This effort included partnering with sales as a technical resource, proposal development, and strategic planning.
  • Contributed to the development of a business plan targeting infrastructure optimization and manageability. This business plan was target to the development of a Center of Expertise that would have end-to-end capabilities to perform network and systems optimization using traditional consulting methodologies; and to develop a strategic alliance with Metilinx for the use of their proprietary optimization and management software.
  • Developed a business plan for the creation of a Telecommunications Practice targeting telecommunications-based technologies that enable businesses to maximize their marketplace potential, including: Internets/Intranets/Extranets; network management and optimization; distributed systems management; systems deployment, integration and consolidation; security; wired and wireless network infrastructure; and multi-platform integration.
  • I coordinated the desktop integration of Dynegy's implementation of Nucleus. I also provided valuable information back to the Nucleus development team concerning application inter-compatibility. This portion of the project was carried out quickly, with minimal disruption to the business, making the transition as smooth as possible.
  • As a Project Lead for the desktop and server integration of Kinder Morgan's acquisition of GATX, I coordinated proposal development, staffing, project plan development, capacity planning, and mentoring of a six-member team. This Windows NT/98 migration project was carried out quickly, with minimal disruption to the business, making the transition as smooth as possible.
  • As a project Infrastructure Analyst, I provided a detailed Infrastructure Assessment of Minute Maid Corporation's planned Oracle upgrade project. I documented network optimization (Ethernet, Token Ring, Routers, Switches, LAN/WAN) and system improvements (Unix, Windows NT/98/95); defined roles; prepare standards and metrics for the infrastructure portion of the project.
  • Served as both a Business Analyst and a Technical Analyst for Lantel Worldwide Communications, Inc. As part of a team I contributed to the business process analysis effort to address Lantel's strategic CRM needs and developed a "High-Level" model that had the capacity to integrate with CGI's Call Center and Service Provisioning capabilities. I also developed an order entry system that was designed to process customer orders, produce invoices, and track customer data, sales data.
  • Performed a key role in a multi-year effort for the development of a standardized client/server environment for both Exxon Computing and Network Services (ECNS) and the Exxon Chemical Company. These standardized environments, based on Windows NT 4.0 (Server and Workstation), were designed to be an automated deployment and installation of the operating system and a standard set of applications and/or services maintaining the highest level of security. This standardized environment was distributed to more than 30,000 workstations and approximately 600 servers worldwide utilizing both in-house and "off the shelf" deployment methods and tools (SMS Server, SMS Installer, WinBatch, WinInstall, IE Express, Microsoft Test).
  • Developed and consulted in the development of process, procedures, and standards associated with the above-mentioned projects.
  • Designed a training program and conducted training classes for the standardized desktop deployment teams, as well as the implementation and rollout coordinators for strategic North American sites of Exxon Chemical.
  • Coordinated the pilot rollout program and consulted to the rollout coordinators for the above-mentioned desktop project.
  • Development and support of an application-tracking database for Exxon Chemical. This application-tracking database, based on Microsoft's Access 97 and SQL, was designed to record and track more than 2000 applications "Certified" for use on the standardized desktop environment.
  • Monitoring of virus incidents and distribution of updates to virus protection software to all North American sites was performed for this client as well.
  • Also acted as a technical resource to the Y2K project team, and assisted in evaluating Y2K desktop standards and any potential Y2K desktop issues.

Note: DRT Systems merged with CGI on July 1, 1999.

1997-1998 Millennium Integration Technologies (MIT) Houston, TX

Sr. Analyst

I was a valued member of a highly skilled team of consultants with experience in all areas of design, development, and implementation of network infrastructure and client/server systems. Specification of hardware, software, topologies, communication standards and transmission media were also part of the tasks for this position.

As a Sr. Analyst for this company I performed the following:

  • Assigned to Exxon Chemical Company for Microsoft Windows NT Workstation/Server deployment design and advanced troubleshooting. This position migrated into development of a standardized server and desktop platform, based on Microsoft's NT Workstation 4.0. This product was distributed to more than 3000 workstations and approximately 200 servers in North America. I was very active in the development process, procedures, and standards associated with this project.

1997-1997 Network Systems Engineering (NSE) Houston, TX

IT Manager

I was a valued member of the NSE management team. My primary responsibility was the management of all IT functions for the company. This included the development, growth, and maintenance of corporate-wide systems and network. Since NSE (in addition to its technical consulting services) functioned as a corporate ISP, I was also accountable for management of the ISP services and maintaining a positive relationship with our ISP services clients. Additionally, I established and managed the NSE Response Center, which functioned as an "Expert Level" helpdesk for NSE consultants to call on for technical answers.

Furthermore, as a member of a close-knit management team at NSE, I was active in the day-to-day decisions and development of the overall business direction.

1994-1997 Network Systems Engineering (NSE) Houston, TX

Network Engineer

I was a valued member of a highly skilled team of consultants with experience in all areas of design, development, and implementation of network infrastructure and client/server systems. Specification of hardware, software, topologies, communication standards and transmission media were also part of the tasks for this position.

As an Engineer for this company I performed the following:

  • Designed a system, for a Spring Branch I.S.D. elementary school, that converged information technologies. This design (using Cisco and 3Com network, Intel video, various software components) allowed teachers in each classroom to display, to their students, an array of media choices on demand. This collective delivery of Internet content, educational interactive software, video conferencing, cable television, and videotape gave teachers and students instant access to several powerful information tools. This system was engineered as the prototype for all schools within the district.
  • Delivered a WAN solution for Memorial/Sisters of Charity Healthcare Clinics utilizing Cisco technologies. This was a cost-effective solution that enabled multiple health care clinics around the Houston area to access a centralized patient database and billing system.
  • Member of the implementation and support team that delivered the network infrastructure, servers, and desktop computers for every school and administrative building in Spring Branch I.S.D.
